Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

The Quest Kids arrived in our house this week and the kids immediately loved it, playing 5 times over the weekend - twice with the whole family. I was impressed with how easy it was to teach my 6 and 8 year old the game and how quickly they picked it up and could play on their own. So much has been done right here. The components are high quality, the game sets up and packs away quickly, the turns are quick but meaningful and offer opportunities for interaction with everybody at the table. And one I especially appreciate is that there are lots of places to choose between taking a safe move or testing your luck with a high risk/high reward option. I expect The Quest Kids to continue hitting the table at our house as it appeals to the kids and adults alike.

I've played it with my kids 4y and 6y. The 6y quickly grasped the mechanics and loved it even more after more plays. The 4y enjoyed the miniatures and diamonds but grew bored of the game after a while. We've tried playing with variations eg. fewer cards or mixed difficulties in rooms, which have pros and cons. For kids that have mastered counting the score sheet is amazing.
