Take That
Voting allows players to influence the outcome of certain events within the game. The vote may be all or nothing, choosing a target for an effect, or to determine the results of certain situations. Players’ votes may not have equal weight, and blocking a player from voting can be a valid tactic.
Voting
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

prototype copy Plays more intuitively than it would seem from reading the manual Nice game with a lot of interaction Things that seemed still a bit off: Scoring needs a bit of rebalancing (the experiment tiles for example, too big of a spread on the 3 tracks) The placement on the ingenuity track matters too much for my taste (especially when deciding ties on the 3 advancement tracks) If the owner of the inventor got the points in every case when he is retired the decision about doing so or not would actually be more interesting (or a question at all actually) Not in favor of the the retirement bonus being random and not fixed

Overall looks to be a fun game to play with different strategies to follow and enough random variation plus options for Labs to give much replay-ability. Some of the Victory Points may need a small bit of re-balancing. There are some more thematic mechanics I would like to have seen, but have been told these were play tested and rejected. Most of these could be "house ruled" to try out for myself.

We played our first game and it went down rather poorly. Part of it was that the rulebook leaves many questions unanswered and the iconography isn't that great either: - Can you activate a conversion multiple times? (1x=2y once, or multiple times?) - Does the ability (text) AND the conversion trigger on the inventor card? If it's only the text, then why is the conversion pritned in the same box on the inventor card straight underneath the ability? - Do all inventors need to be tapped sideways or only the ones with the circular arrow? - Money was almost pointless in our game as there are many ways to get inventors for free, so the income from the initiative track was enough to get by. - It would be nice to have the icons for people and inventions printed next to the area they are in - not a big deal, but that's what games with better attention to detail make them stand out. - Take that in games is not my thing, and it's ok to have some imbalances. However, if some players at the top of the initiative track can beat down on the guys below and steal stuff that help them to get up, then it sours my experience a bit. - Expanding on the previous, some payouts of inventions are clearly better than others - the first player on the initiative track was able to get almost a whole extra round of switch activations, while the one at the bottom just got 1 resource. As the invention tile was revealed by the player before them there was no competition to get it. Conclusions: We allowed multiple conversions per inventor and had no space left to place anything at the end of round 3, so finished the game right there. I guess that means you can only do the conversions once, and not also trigger them when you activate your inventor. Also, maybe every inventor can only be used once (icon circular arrow or not) and then get tapped. It also made us wonder what the right way is to reitre an inventor due to being fully surronded by inventions. Does a new inventor being placed in that emptied spot stay there forever as no new tile can be placed around them? Should the inventions maybe be taken off too? ... We learned the game from the rules before playing, so probably might have missed something dispite searching for stuff for a long time. We had some fun gathering and converting resources and if this had come out 15 years ago, it might have been a nice addition to the flood of resource conversion games. As is, the bling of the production doesn't stand out enough to keep this one on my shelf.
