Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

A good game ruined by instant ending condition (players wont play the same number of rounds and you can easily make 20 points your last round), and with no compensation for turn order. However, game is interesting as there is a lot of interactions between players. Can be also very punishing if one makes a mistake.

This is a solid area-of-control game where the area to be controlled is a moving target that changes throughout the game based on a thematically appropriate lunar calendar. It has a fun player interaction mechanic by which your pack can "dominate" (i.e., steal) other player's wolves. There is also a personal board for each player that is used to upgrade your pack's abilities, and is satisfying to complete. The action mechanic involves flipping over double-sided terrain cards to go to the terrain area you want to get to. It is a bit fiddly, but it offers a bit of theme and slight asymmetry because whichever wolf you play as is better at moving in a certain type of terrain (e.g., Forest Wolf moves better in forest terrain). The fiddliness of the action mechanic lends itself to some AP, but overall we like this game a lot.

I was really excited to try this one out, the game looks amazing and terrain flipping system was intriguing. Pros: great artwork, interesting puzzle, very interactive gameplay Cons: horribly AP prone, instant ending with uneven number of turns (with zero compensation), weirdly feels both short (you don't get to do much) and long (game length over one hour). Played only with 4 players.
