On the hill of Al-Sabika in Granada, the Nasrid dynasty created one of the most impressive constructions in history, the Alhambra.
In Sabika, you play the role of one of the Nasrid nobles who contributed to the construction of the towers, gardens, and palaces of this ancient monument. In addition to this honorable task, you have to establish trade routes through Europe and the Maghreb. These routes will provide you with sufficient income to be able to take on the demanding tribute that has been commanded by the Catholic Monarchs. In exchange for your work, you will receive military protection against the various conflicts of the Taifas Kingdom.
Sabika implements a novel mechanism that integrates three interrelated rondels. Each rondel focuses on a different scenario: the construction of the Alhambra, the carving of poems in its halls, and the export of goods along the trade routes. All of this takes place over five eras (rounds), and at the end of the fifth round, the player who has accumulated the most prestige points takes the victory.

I really did try to like Sabika, but most of the stars I'd give it are for the theme and care that went into the game. Sadly, the play style feels awful, like a very confusing Kanban EV. Complexity for complexity's sake.

Just a wonderful mid/heavy euro game. We had a blast playing it at 4 and enjoyed every turn of the game. It shares weight with Bitoku, but this one is way more elegant and straight forward. The center rondel is the core of the game in which you place/move your workers around in clockwise order. The rondel and its mechanics make this a very tight game in which every tiny decision matters. You also get to do crazy combos that are so pleasant while also not taking much time. Highly recommended!

Very enjoyable game! The mechanics on the rondel feel very fresh and interesting, and there are many many ways to reach your goals. However, at the same time you are lacking everything, and its pretty hard to get money, resources, or basically anything. There are also a lot of options for different combos, which makes it an exciting gaming experience.
