Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

I like it. Familiar and easy and intuitive. Variable scoring modes is great. Just a little light for my main tastes

Fun boardgame where you try to build the best habitats for different kinds of animals. Strategic, doesn't that long to play a round. Has very good re-playability because of all the possible animal combinations.

Relaxing tile laying game about nature and animals. On your turn, you pick a pair that consists of a landscape tile and an animal token. I like: + Artwork. + Simple but engaging decision-making. + Variability due to the different scoring cards each game. Each animal has a different scoring pattern. + Drafting pairs of landscape tiles and animals tokens. + Multi-layer tile laying. + Scales well with all player counts (including solo). + You can keep leaf tokens for victory points or spent them to draft tiles and tokens more flexible. + Arc: gets more tensed and constricting. + Quick turns and plays quickly. + Three different game modes (to reduce game complexity). + Easy to teach. Neutrals: # Different feel between player counts in regard to drafting. More player, more volatile market. # Some luck of the draw. # Hate drafting may occur. # Setting: America North-West. # Family-friendly. # Each player builds one's own landscape. # Tiles do not always make sense: Desert fish? Sand trouts! # Landscape majority scoring can lead to constant tile counting between you and your opponents. I do not like: - Some scoring cards have a strange ratio between difficulty and scoring. See also: * Overboss: A Boss Monster Adventure: similar multi-layered Zeldaesque tile laying game. * Calico: agonizing, puzzly tile laying game. * Kingdomino Origins: tile laying game with tokens. * Life of the Amazonia: similar theme with bag building and nice components.
