Very lighthearted, friendly journey and quest game. No overarching story or campaign but rather a string of 'jobs' you can fulfill for Prestige (VPs). Nicely done app that hides consequences to choices made and delivers a lot of variability and audio to boot.

Played this over the past 2 days with my two teens, age 17 and 14. We loved it! Rolling the colorful unique dice for skills checks is such tactile satisfaction. The art for the world on the board is so neat, found myself examining it closer in between my turns. It is also nice that you roll to select a month to start in and you use the appropriate side of the board and as you play you will progress in time to the other side of the board. The cards that go on town locations reflect this. Something that was happening in a town in July, likely won't be there in August, so as you play through different months/seasons it allows for variability. The card system & app organize the game so well, making it easy to administer. Keep in mind this is a lightish story board game, it's not meant to be D&D. Some complain there is no central story arc just as quickly as someone else complains it feels like it's on rails. I think you will have a better experience if you know what to expect going in to the game and are prepared to relax, chill, and enjoy some entertaining short stories about the interesting characters in the world of Daimyra. Expect the stories to be a little more than say the ones you got in Ryan Laukat's Above & Below, Lands of Galzyr's quests are not overarching, but each scene has multiple parts. The game also has the improvement of having keywords you acquire so things you do, items & statuses you acquire may affect what happens in future story quests. Each character does start out with a bit of guided story to introduce your character's backstory and get you going into the world, but those play out by a point and you are free to roam. Technically, you are free to roam while your characters guided story is still active. Each turn you can move up to 2 spaces, then you do a quest. You don't have to go to the town with your character's story quest right away if you don't want to. There are quests from the event deck you can play along the way of your travel and there are purple markers showing what towns you can pick up other quests in. You are not locked into your skillsets either, you will always only have 4 skill marks, but through quests as you play you will get opportunities to move them around if you wish and change which skills you are best at. We really enjoyed all the little stories and encounters finding ourselves, laughing out loud at something silly that happened or feeling our heart strings being pulled for different characters & situations in the game. Can not express how much we loved the game. If Sami Laasko puts out any expansion material it's a guaranteed purchase for us.

Surprised I like this as much as I do. I got it for my GF for Christmas a year or two ago and it's just plain and simple animalfolk fun.
