Initial Impression: GIJoe cartoons never really interested me. I guess it was after my time. Sure, I knew some of the characters but never followed the storyline. I was more interested in seeing this game's spin on deckbuilding. For a mid-weight deckbuilder, this game integrates and impressive number of fresh ideas. The game uses a conveyor marketplace in which cards can become unavailable due to Cobra's units. Missions come in stages and include various villains to defeat. Players can aid one another to overcome missions, limited by the vehicles used to bring cards to the battle. An optional component that I highly recommend playing with is the "Base", as it adds an additional strategic layer without too many extra rules. The game has a progressive story arc, with both the players and Cobra gradually increasing in strength throughout the game. Completing the final mission and defeating Cobra is not an easy task, even on the simplest difficulty, but victory does taste sweet! "And knowing is half the battle"

I really hope this game doesn't suck. If it does, maybe Venom Assault can be reskinned with the GI Joe license. PLEASE. DON'T. SUCK.

Fun deck building and dice rolling game. I even quite like the introduced randomness. Even, if a mission is failed, most of the times the game "just" fails forward and you are still able to mitigate the negative gains to win the game.
