Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

This is such a hard game to rate. It's like reading a book where you're only allowed to read one paragraph every 30 minutes. But you really want to know where the story goes and enjoy those paragraphs. I enjoyed the ship book. I dislike the planet play, as it was just frustrating and repetitive. I finished the campaign, but my wife stopped playing 3 planets in, so the rest was solo. Solo is probably how the game should be played, as the ship book is a whole series of steps and interactions that only one person can realistically do. Second half of the game I played just to get through the story; on the planets, I ended up just using my dice as if I rolled what I wanted. It was enough to go through the experiences on the planet and the small story each planet told. I think campaign games and I don't mix.

This game almost delivers everything it sets out to be. BUT, my friends and I felt that the game tries to surprise you with each exploration, but these surprises are often unfair and don't match the step of deciding whether or not to "probe" the planet before descending. The story leaves many plot lines unresolved and does not have a satisfactory conclusion. We all wished that the ship fase was something where each section leader could control a part of the ship, because the way the ship phase is usually alienates half of the party.

Great production value and innovative campaign mechanics, ok writing. Reducing my rating after more plays, this game is trying to do a lot but I feel it misses being fun. The ship phase is definitely innovative but the whole planet landing process has a story but we just dont feel its worth the investment to go through. Overall dropping this due to the fact no one had fun, as someone said it feels like if they would have made the planet phases more interesting, less complex, and less punishing this game would be good.
