This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Good gameplay, really long for what it is. Super disappointed in the app. It should be fully narrated, not just one paragraph.

Simple worker placement with tight resource management. I really enjoyed the playthrough and story. Can't wait to play it more!

Solid mechanical base, I suppose. There's some meat to chew on before achieving its ramp and in efficiently working its contract fulfillment. The worker placement isn't treading much new ground and the process of gathering resources to fulfill contracts is familiar. The event system is the best part, and is quite good. The table-driven events do change pressures from session-to-session and the game provides a generous amount of event variation both within a scenario and among the included scenarios. But the generational gimmick feels woefully underused. Even worse, the game drowns in its attempt at establishing setting by way of explicit narrative. The narrative forces an egregious amount of additional time upon the table and that narrative is horribly overwritten. My Father's Work truly commits to a bit of using hundreds of words when the same could be conveyed in tens of words.
