Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

A game with potential... there are all sorts of options, players building the board of worker placement options dynamically through the game, the board fading out older parts as it progresses, opportunities to block and affect one another. A lot of neat ideas and the components are super and... it went very poorly. It just didn't feel fun as there was "just too much stuff going on." It's not that it isn't trackable or that one can't make sense of what to do, it's more that there was just too much to keep track of and everything changed so frequently that there was little semblance of coherence to a strategy. I will play it again, because I do think there are many parts of how this game is put together that are impressive. I'm definitely going into the second play with different expectations. A second play revealed a much better experienced of what felt like a game with more balance while still keeping the dynamic changes from start to finish. It is still a bit too easy to miss/forget collecting a few points on a turn or taking that bonus action or effect. Other than that flaw, the game is quite good. I'm keeping it in my collection and will try it more.

Its an okey game. There are in my opinion some inbalance in the player asymmetric powers. Some small variant for bidding on these with initial starting resources would make the game better.

I don't know if my brain was hazy when I first tried this, but I just could not get this. I even started thinking, "That's it, heavy Euros aren't for me anymore." We played most of a single game and then called it because Stephen had to work the next day. Second time around, everything 'clicked' much more easily for me! I think with 3 players I was overwhelmed by how quickly the board state of the structure could change -- 4 would be even worse. Really liked this at 2, and it played in about an hour besides, which almost pulls this out of heavy Euro territory. Second play improved my opinion of the game -- I'd wager this is a 6 with room to move upwards. Rated 6 - Nov. 2021
