Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Once you decipher the rulebook and figure this game out it is a quality game. Gameplay feels a little short.

This game feels like a race game but it really is about being efficient with resources and using them for upgrades and scoring. It’s easy to understand yet there are still many decisions and options. Luck has a role in this game as you are choosing cards but only have limited info. When you make a choice, the other players get to follow, and sometimes they make out better then others. This could be a difference in determining the winner. If you are alright with luck in your game, then this is a good fun game.

A great improvement on some of the ideas found in Maracaibo (attack to generate resources, multi-use cards), but this is a lighter game with a much better theme and a few chance elements thrown in (deckbuilding, randomized combat, fishing for resources). I like that the "output randomness" can still be mitigated quite well with careful play. The "cloud cover" on the resource cards is a brilliant thematic touch, and I like how movement the board is still somewhat competitive without a huge amount of blocking. Fun game!
