World of Tanks Miniatures Game
30m - 30m
2 - 2 Players
Ages 14+
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Rehash of Tanks! 1st edition. Card values have been changed and everything is realigned to their WoT online game.

WOT is essentially version 2.0 of GF9's TANKS. Two or more players: each player controls one or more 1/100 scale tank miniatures. The ruler-based movement is like a much-simpler version of the movement in X-Wing. There are some straight-forward rules for deciding LOS, and for both attacks and defense. Lots of dice throwing, but it makes some sense. Very easy to learn. It is a lot of fun for a small group to have melee fights. It is also reasonably solo playable as the dice add some randomness and surprises. Overall I enjoy TANKS and return to it again and again.

I played the computer game, I was looking forward to playing the board game, I love miniatures, I play a lot of Bolt Action, I know a lot about WW2 ... so I was looking forward to this game, nice setup, play-mat, little 3D houses, walls, forests, professionally painted tanks, people knowledgeable in the rules, expansions and extras ... everything was ready for a great game, a streamlined, fast-paced, simple rules game that I want to buy to introduce friends to wargaming. What I got was a historically grossly inaccurate game where the British have all the possible advantages and just slaughter their hapless opponent who has no freaking chance at all. First of all, historically out of the four nation in the game (Soviets, Germans, Americans, British) the British easily had the worst tanks: slow, unreliable, outgunned and outclassed in armor ... yet in this game the Cromwell tanks shoot better, are better armored and have a huge initiative that cannot even be matched by others. This means they move last and shoot first every single freaking turn ... as the Soviets we could not do anything there was no advantage on out side. Which is ridiculous. It is not a fun experience being hammered when you have nothing going for you by the very design of the game that is so unbalanced that a few turns in you know there is no way of winning this. I will definitely avoid buying the game in the future it is just not a fun experience at all.
