Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

The good news - this is a co-op that is pretty damn challenging. The bad news - it's just not that much fun. Like many co-ops it can suffer from the alpha player just dominating the game. If the cards come out in the wrong order (especially the anomalies) you're in trouble. The fact you play through all the yellow alert cards every game means you'll learn what they do and the variety is just the order they appear. Game itself is very much a small production - which has it's charm, but could have done with a bit of development. You don't need a pawn for every character for example Overall, I played it, it was ok ... but no desire to own it or play it again over the many other co-ops out there.

Fun little game. Would be rated higher if there was more variety under the hood (alternate versions of the systems, something other than the same negative threats every turn). Still a fun little game. Nice theme. Easy to set-up and break down.

I like Star Trek and the theme is pretty fun. At the same time, like all coops everything is going horribly wrong all the time and I'm not sure if I really like it. Played with a good group so not sure how badly the game can be hijacked by a bossy or indecisive player.
