Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

I generally dislike cooperative games and especially, deduction ones. And this design only bolstered my repugnance towards them. The deduction element is not refreshing here so the rating would've been '5', but the game is painfully long (and the gameplay pretty repetitive) so 1 point less is more appropriate. The theme and graphic design (photos of criminals) is mildly repulsive for me. Yeah, I know, these were real people and real events... Still, repulsive for me.

I may have completely misunderstood the (complicated) rulebook, but when we tried it several times, we simply couldn't (1) determine how it involved other than the 'detective' during play, so it really wasn't a 2-player game, and (2) what there was to it, other than step by step processes of elimination. I spent a while drawing up decision trees, and found that they got me to a correct answer fast on most occasions. Sadly, then, it didn't come up to scratch at all.

Ingenious mechanics! But to me that is kind of the problem. I like theme based games. For me the theme here is of no importance. It gets totally lost in the puzzle-solving mechanism.
