Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King
60m - 75m

This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Unlike the first expansion, this is pretty much more of the same. I like that, because the original game was and still is great. This adds more to do with your money, which drains the system of cash and makes it even harder to decide what to price and buy, because you can make sure the player before you in the druid phase can't afford the tile you want. The druid tiles are fun, I like that your isles get bigger and the more powerful tiles are fun. The tablets adding special abilities seemed amazing and I was worried about them being OP, but the game is so short that even a great permanent ability may not be worth getting over a good tile. I'm conflicted about this, because I'm happy they're balanced but it also means there's not a lot of special abilities around, which isn't as exciting as it could have been. I also like that there's more scrolls in the game and you can ensure to get specific scrolls if you plan for it, which reduces the luck.

Good expansion for 2p. For higher player counts it adds to much chaos by stone tablets. Stone tablets change the rules of the base game such that prices paid for tiles do not relate anymore to the value of the tile.

Great expansion that really elevates regular Isle of Skye without making it to heavy or cumbersome. Excellent to include in your every playthrough from now on!
