Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Cool area control game that has a nice flow after players decipher the race and adjectives. I didn't like the fiddly coin changing and the constant referencing though.

Para mi fue el salto lógico del Risk, un juego de conquista muy bueno y que revolucionó mi manera de ver los juegos de mesa, con poco azar, divertido como el solo y muy rejugable. La expansión de las cartas lo mejora muchisimo

Small World didn't leave an impression when I played it years ago as area control never appealed to me, but it surprised me upon rediscovering the game. It is just plain entertaining to play, the different race/power combinations are fun to explore and mix things up between plays. I enjoy the process of evaluating and drafting player powers at the start of certain Eurogames, figuring which one is best for the current board state, and Small World lets you do that mutiple times in a single game.
