Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The theme is very good and I like the multiple paths this scenario throws at you which greatly increases replayability, which is a good thing because I found this quest to be absolutely brutal, particularly solo. There are a lot of surge cards in the encounter and during several games I just got buried by threat, one game I actually had 31 threat in the staging area! By the time I beat it (two-handed) I was glad to see the back of it.

The third cycle of expansions continues adding more awesomeness to Lord of the Rings LCG, in form of new heroes, cards for the decks, and new quests. With Heirs of Númenor thing have been shaken up, with different statistics used for questing and increased difficulty. The adventure packs of this cycle definitely follow up on that! The Steward's Fear contains a bunch of new cards for the players decks: the wonderful Gondorian Shield, and some interesting Outland allies, the most "sliverish" of the creatures... The scenario itself is very creative and different (with three possible plots and three possible antagonists it is very replayable too), even if it is easier than those in Heirs.
