Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Stunning art, imaginative design, varying challenges; this is one of the most amazing deluxe expansions to date.

I really enjoyed all of the scenarios in this one. Although when playing with a powerful deck (I used Noldor) I’d play the nightmare versions of the first two.

It's a good deluxe set. Cirdan is a great hero and some of the player cards (like Grappling Hook) are going to get a lot of attention in certain decks. The 3 quests are diverse and interesting, and I enjoyed all of them. However, I do think the 3rd one is just not well-tuned (too difficult) for solitaire play. Too bad, because the theme and mechanics of it are interesting. The sailing mechanic which appears in this cycle is fun and not too complicated. I certainly like it a billion times more than the "Time" mechanic...
