Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Once you've got the rules this is a really engaging narrative puzzle, trying to hide from the increasingly threatening Black Riders. Every game is engaging and interesting but I wish that just occasionally they weren't so hard to beat.

Rating based on scenarios only. A shadow of the past Rating: 7.2 Medium difficulty quest. Different style of adventure. Mostly questing with some elite enemies (Nazguls). The adventure uses "Hide"-test in which you have to commit characters for their willpower in order to avoid bad effects of things in the staging area (normally Nazguls engaging and attacking). The theme of sneaking and avoiding enemies are quite well implemented in the mechanisms. The hide-test is where the main threat and uncertainty comes from. It's a good scenario but the hide-tests are ultimately not that exiting. A Knife in the Dark 8 Medium difficulty quest. Some nasty trecheries. A quest where you can make things more difficult for yourself in order to not add Nazguls to the encounter deck. Some interesting quest specific location that forces you to change pacing in order to deal with them effectively. Ends with a boss fight which difficulty is influenced by how good you've been at avoiding adding Nazguls. Good thematic integration. Flight to the Ford 7.5 The quest has a countdown timer on the ring-bearers life which creates a sense of urgency to complete the quest. If makes the quest focused on questing while at the same time forcing you to deal with a few elite enemies. A nice thematic quest on the easy side.
