Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
I like StarLord but I don't need more MC because I don't even play it enough as it is. Maybe I'll pick it up in the future if I play more MC.
So with really only playing solo, Star Lord seems a lot weaker then most. His deck is all about taking on encounter cards to do big moves, which is great at times but makes it a lot luckier then others.
Insanely thematic with the "fly-by-seat-of-your-pants" or "devil-may-care" style of play. Star Lord can definitely pull off some amazing finishes for major damage, if you can time it right with his board built up. However, he can make the villain punish you hard if you take too many risks and let those encounter cards build up.
