The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Revised Core Set
30m - 90m
1 - 4 Players
Ages 14+
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

This is a really fun game. Some scenarios don't seem balanced for true solo play and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case with other expansions of this game. Either way it provides a great game especially if you're a fan of card games. Unfortunately, I will likely sell the game as I will not buy further into the expansions as I already own most of Marvel Champions and these lcg's can get pretty expensive. For whoever is reading this make sure to decide which of the lcg's you like most before going all in unless you don't mind owning several of them. Keep in mind these types of games thrive on card pool but you can definitely get a good amount of plays from the core set.

This game is fine by itself. But as an LCG it continuously improves with expansions. And you don't have to guess what will be in the expansions. Unlike the Magic, Lorcana, One Piece, Dice Masters and such. You buy what you want. Exactly what you want.

Lord of the Rings - The Card Game is the first cooperative living card game ever published, and it is the ancestor of both Arkham Horror LCG and Marvel Champions. The design has been surpassed by its descendants, but remains a great game and it still has some strengths that only it possesses. The deckbuilding and gameplay is the most open and "MTGesque", the scenarios design is clever and very varied. This revised core set is everything the original should have been: the playset of every card out of the box, and the three scenarios linked in a campaign.
