Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A well-done and refreshing change of pace from the last two cycles. The scenarios require completely new deck-building strategies and some even make a mono-Tactics (a sphere I never use) deck viable and fun. I'm looking forward to the rest of this cycle.

Great player cards, challenging and creative missions (although some can be frustrating, since you definitly need to create decks for it and it is hard to anticipate. The first mission, as example, changes up questing by forcing you to use your attack power instead of will power to quest). Would recommend as a buy if you're looking for some great heroes, player cards and challenging missions!

Heirs of Númenor is the second deluxe expansion for LOTR LCG, and it adds a bunch of new cards to the base game. There's a small stash of new cards for the players decks, centered around Gondor cards. A new version of Boromir and the defensive powerhouse Beregond are the brand new heroes. Notable cards are Defender of Rammas (a strong defender for a mere cost of 2) and the "mana-fixers" Errand-rider and Envoy of Pelargir. There's also three new scenarios (together with some cards that will be used in the next cycle), all taking place into the lands of Gondor. There is a definite ramp up in the difficulty of scenarios: into Ithilien is listed at 4, but is definitely at least a 8! And the Siege of Cair Andros is even more difficult... Together with the increased challenge, there is a change of paradigm: from this box onwards, things will change forever! Willpower won't be the only statistic used for questing...
