Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board

Extends the base game with little rules impact. Offers sufficient choices to keep this game fresh even for regular players.

Contains my favorite scenario thus far. It always starts out looking extremely bleak in a very "oh no, we're doing so bad, omg, this is terrible" way, but we somehow pull through by some miracle and some reckless driving. Arkham always looks a little worse for wear - with 3/5ths missing, but, eh, what can you do? Do the research you say? Pshaw. What does always gets me are the funny moments, when some random event just turns out ridiculous, either because of a string of misfortune and luck so bad you laugh, or because some encounter which turns out silly. Like when Arkham is getting eaten by a cosmic horror, slowly approaching through the street heading towards Miskatonic University - and you have a student at the university whinging at you that they have nothing to write about for their paper. NO, I'm NOT giving you remnants! Like... LOOK OUT THE WINDOW, you absolute twerp! Have liked every scenario in this box this far. We even got the good ending in Shots in the Dark.
