Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Arkham Horror: the Card Game is an awesome crossover between RPG and card game, thriving in atmosphere and character development. No need to point out that expanding the card pool (both with new scenarios and new investigator cards) is a great way to keep it fresh and enticing! Course of the Rougarous is the first stand alone Scenario Pack (although in Italy it was published as the fifth...), and contains a scenario, but no additional player cards.

One play. We were murdered by this POD. That said, it was structurally very solid. Definitely raised the bar on the structure of scenarios seen in the core box. Very cool, but combat heavy (and hard as nails). 10/10 (in the sense I consider it a mandatory inclusion if you own the core, not that I wish to play it regularly). Overall rating (7) is my likelihood to suggest including it in any particular campaign cycle. I do not play Arkham LCG in standalone (yet?), so no opinion there. However, the standalone difficulty is severe,

The design here isn’t Super flashy, but the setting is atmospheric and the gameplay tense. A few really neat thematic moments. Also, this game came down to two epic draws from the bag which turned into the most satisfying and tense stand-up moment in all my 25+ games of Arkham thus far.
