Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Just received my KS Deluxe copy -- haven't tried it yet with the expansion, just a 3-player base game using all tiles. Initial impressions: 1. I like the tile-placement aspect; guarantees some variability from one game to the next. 2. I appreciate the maze-like quality of the garden as it is forming (though I can understand how looking at the board from the side or upside-down may create a challenge). 3. Quality of all components is good. 4. Rule-book is short, sweet and simple. 5. Gameplay is pretty quick on a turn-by-turn basis - not too much potential for extreme AP. 6. The only negative I can see is that it is a little fiddly having to swap out all the seed pods when a different color cascades down the falls, and then having to swap them all out again a turn or two later. Minor issue, though -- overall, an enjoyable game!

Simple to teach. High degree of luck in available tiles. The design is great, but it could be anoying with the isometric some times. BREMEN

We really like it, but it’s tricky to play if you’re not sitting at the base of the ziggurat (pyramid). We kept having to get up and look at it from the base each time we took a turn when playing more than a two=player game.
