Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

(04/04/2017) - Looking to expand my Lord of the Rings LCG adventure pack collection a bit! (08/31/2020) - SOLD

Quest: I found this quest disappointingly easy. In particular, the time counters that are the key aspect of many of this cycle's quests didn't present much tension due to weak effects. Most cycles tend to have one easier quest among them, but often have innovative mechanics that make them still fun. I didn't get much of that here. Player Cards: Hero Haldir is great. He's not only by far the best attacker so far in the lore sphere, he really is the center of his own style of deck. The rest of the cards includes a number of key Silvan cards and the first addition to an eagles deck we've seen in a while. Lots of good stuff in this pack. Ratings: If I were to rate any expansions to this game in the context of board/card games as a whole, they'd get an 8,9 or 10 because they are part of a game that I give a 9 to overall. However, on a separate scale within just this game system, I'd give this a 4 for the quest and a 9 for the cards.

Another super solid quest in the Ringmaker Cycle, that feels drastically different from any of the previous quests. I like the mechanic of reducing your threat down to zero, racing the threat clock. It provides more tension than the usual way of placing progress on quests/locations. The way everything manipulates time counters to work against you can lead to some really tough choices. Haldir is another super fun Silvan hero, and there are some more options for Silvans in this pack as well, slowly rounding out the theme.
