Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

This is a simple and fun strategy game that feels like a mix between Chess, Stratego and Onitama. And the advanced rules add enough variety to keep the game interesting, but it's still fun and challenging without them.

Would have given higher rating as this is an excellent game. But, as many have stated the differences in components make this game unplayable without getting new pieces.

Played Colin's copy 2 handed and it was fun. A bit chesslike and Colin knew what he was doing better than me - I think Ian would like this game
