Robinson Crusoe: Mystery Tales is the second big expansion for Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island. Unlike its predecessor, it not only includes a campaign (titled "The Lost City of Z") in which you follow great explorer Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett, but also a full set of rules and components that can be played with the base game of Robinson Crusoe, along with two standalone scenarios.
Robinson Crusoe: Mystery Tales introduces ten new characters, the new deck of event cards, three new decks of adventure cards, new beast cards, new mystery cards, and the new mechanism of sanity that you can use in the base game of Robinson Crusoe to change it into a game of dreadful stories! Additionally, the expansion includes five missions that form a long and epic campaign: "The Lost City of Z".

I played the cultist standalone expansion and I have no desire to play this again. The rulebook is mediocre, the elements don't integrate well into the base game thematically or mechanically, and overall this expansion is just a disappointment. I had to refer to the expansion rules repeatedly and they were badly organized. My group of four didn't care for this and we began to lose focus. We were mercifully knocked out after about 5 rounds because we were having a hard time feeding people and knocking out the cultists. We didn't build up our shelter roof because there's no weather in the scenario but we got hammered due to event cards anyway. The palisade was useless. The mystical weapon mechanic is silly. What a disappointment considering that I really enjoy the base game.

Good story, fun to uncover it as the campaign progresses, but overall I prefer the base game. I didn't find horror mode to add much.

Really enjoy the Lost City of Z Campaign. Really nice building elements from one scenario to another. Have not tried Horror elements or stand along themes yet. Glad I acquired. Absolutely detest that there are not new dice for the new sanity mechanic. I have to mar the base game dice, and if I want to play that, then I have to ignore the sanity icon. That's really annoying. Extremely disappointed. Rulebook is better than original, but still omits so many important details.
