In Yucatan, you are the leader of a Mayan city. You have promised your people to win the favors of the Gods, and their fate is in your hands. Send your warlords to capture enemies, increase your might with every season of the sacred calendar, and sacrifice your prisoners to the Mayan gods to ensure your dominance.
Your warlords will become more and more formidable, your city more and more glorious, but your opponents do the same, so enlisting the help of the mythological creatures and heroes will be necessary to try to restore with blood, the energy of your gods.
In this game, your goal is to capture prisoners, and the Yucatan peninsula is your playground. Prepare for four seasons of fierce fighting. At the end of each season, you will ritually sacrifice captured enemies to gain reputation, but be careful because the gods are demanding: Each of your sacrifices must be more glorious than the last. Each decision matters in the subtle balance required to make your city the glorious and eternal sanctuary of the mighty Mayan gods.

Rulebook is horrible. Must use reddit for several questions. The first round is basically scripted there is easily seen best plays and cards to play in battle. Had a really mediocre time with it.

KS all in and I wished I had auctioned it before breaking the wrap. The rule book could not be worse. It makes little sense. Lots of grammar and translation problems. Sections of paragraphs repeated. They don't bother to explain how to play the game. What is the goal? They just jab here and there at steps and icons. What a waste! 5 & 6 player stuff will not fit in the main box. The pyramid is dumb looking, clunky, and totally unnecessary. But, there is nothing else to hold up the dial full of cryptic icons. Hate the fact that the enormous delicate cardboard pyramid can't be easily stored. In fact, the large pyramid has a paper-thin cardboard box to hold it. Great, let's fit this poorly printed cardboard pyramid into a cake box and put it on the shelf. That junk doesn't deserve space on anyone's gaming shelf. It is a deluxe edition. Make it decent quality or don't make it at all. (Everdell has lots of cardboard stuff and it all fits in the box.) I don't think I can even sell this mess at this point. The designer and the team should take a step back. They took my $ but they won't waste my time again.

More euro action and resource efficiency game than combat or area control game. Some unclear rules, but would give it further plays knowing that it isn't really focused on conquest.
