In Yucatan, you are the leader of a Mayan city. You have promised your people to win the favors of the Gods, and their fate is in your hands. Send your warlords to capture enemies, increase your might with every season of the sacred calendar, and sacrifice your prisoners to the Mayan gods to ensure your dominance.
Your warlords will become more and more formidable, your city more and more glorious, but your opponents do the same, so enlisting the help of the mythological creatures and heroes will be necessary to try to restore with blood, the energy of your gods.
In this game, your goal is to capture prisoners, and the Yucatan peninsula is your playground. Prepare for four seasons of fierce fighting. At the end of each season, you will ritually sacrifice captured enemies to gain reputation, but be careful because the gods are demanding: Each of your sacrifices must be more glorious than the last. Each decision matters in the subtle balance required to make your city the glorious and eternal sanctuary of the mighty Mayan gods.

Opened but unplayed. Great components, and it seems like a good game. It’s just not something I see making it to the table with my new game group.

The score goes mostly to Matagot and their customer service, management of logistics and communication during this Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately, I give it a 1 until I can open and play the game, which I still can't even if being a Kickstarter backer. The game has been sold in retail for almost a year and many of the backers are still waiting to receive their orders. The Spanish edition has not even been printed yet. The German backers received retail versions of the game and supposedly some stretch goals pulled out from Kickstarter boxes... The rulebook will enter the history of worst boardgame components, despite the backers having corrected most of the mistakes during feedback before production. Many of the promised 'deluxe' components (box for the pyramid, boxes for jade, corn, inserts...) are of worse quality as described during the campaign or do not even fit the game box... In every single issue the backers had to deal with any consequence and the communication of Matagot has been rather disappointing, not showing any sort of self critique or empathy to us who paid a rather significant amount of money....

Everything about this game should make it my type of game, but it just fails. It is fiddly, took forever to set up, and even longer to play. After the game I said I'd play it again, but only in a very specific situation, such as it is already set up for me, there are only three of us playing, and I don't have to put it away.
