A not bad dice game. There is a decent amount of mitigation and a good serving of cooperation. Unfortunately, nothing about the game was amazingly thematic. There was story, but it did not come through in the mechanics. Overall, it is just a push your luck game with little risk and little reward.

Its like Elder Sign re-dressing herself with more modern, branded clothes, but the fashion sense is quite weak. Not all is bad, but comparing with Elder Signs side by side, I think the latter is more appealing in terms of graphics and aesthetics. The objective cards could have unique illustrations of its own (like Elder Signs), rather than just printing same repetitive world map locations. The back of those cards already have the picture of continents (Asia, Europe, etc) so why do the same on the front of the card as well? For example: "Trapped Mutant" card, I don't feel the sense of rescuing a mutant with the card just showing a blip somewhere in China on the front. I thought they are Geography Studies flash cards. Same goes for the bond cards, they are just number and words with a bland "X" background. Not to be nitpicky, but X-Men are famous for its beautiful, all-action comics illustrations..why not use them to the fullest? The deck consists majority of those cards (apart from the amazing final objective 4-card combination), so it is really a shame. I was looking forward to a X-Men game, but I am hesitating to get this one. IMO.
