Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver

Great thematic elements, great art, fun variety of things to do... waaaaaayyy too long and clunky as a 6-player. May revise my rating upward after playing a 4-player version.

"Sandbox" style games can always be a bit hit or miss. Often it provides the player with ample opportunity to play "their" way. However, it might trap the player into frankly unfun loops as they try to rack up VPs. In this case, the game falls more into the latter category. There are fun mechanics such as gambling using poker (or with the expac faro) but requires substantial player investment to be a viable long-term victory strategy. Additionally, many of the options open to a player end up feeling half-baked or highly random in their success. A lot of needed crunch is lacking in the base game that the expacs are unable to bring to the table either.

I'm not a fan of western movies and some of the rules of this game are not clear enough... but its sandbox nature, components and the multiple uses of "poker" cards are such a terrific match for its theme! This is a terrific game to have fun with your friends!
