Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Admiral Fisher
This knocks Dominion into a cocked hat. Whilst Dominion grows tired quickly, needing expansion packs to refresh it, this has built in variation in the set up. Whilst Dominion often feels a bit soulless, this has a standard euro engine in terms of feel and so feel pretty earthy. It's not a revolutionary game rather it builds on and improves some of what came before - but, don't be fooled, it wouldn't be a Dorra if there wasn't something really quite clever in there. In this case it's the movement of the supervisor, who gives a whole extra layer of strategy to the game and fulfills 3 purposes at once. Rather like the candles in Luna by Feld, this is a simple, but highly enjoyable mechanism. It's not as original and memorable as Kreta, but I like this and it hits a pretty sweet spot - a card-engine builder that has much more to it than that. It's not going to be in many people's top 10 games because it does a number of things well rather than anything brilliantly, but it is a very good, solid, fun and well designed game.
chize
Valetta is a very interesting deck builder combined with some spacial puzzle elements. We enjoy the game for what it is, which is a fast and easy to teach game that requires some planning ahead. The deck building adds a nice touch to the game, but the card selection and deck building from (for example) Concordia or Rococo would likely have improved the game for us. Especially, as the game is over rather quickly, limiting options to really "manipulate" and "benefit" from any changes to the deck. Still, very enjoyable game that we can play anytime, as decisions are light but still feel rewarding.
candoo
It is a little flat. Not enough of a deck building aspect. Very hard to thin your deck. It is not offensive. But not that dynamic. The rating is 6. But -1 adjustment for outrageous pricing on minimal components. This is publisher greed to market this in a oversized box for something that should have been half the price, compared to other standard releases in the board gaming industry.
