Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

ajewo
Cooperative kinda dungeon crawler to the final boss fight. Unusual theme about songs and gaining humanity. + Well written narrative. # Luck: a lot of dice rolling. # Unusual comic-like artwork. # "Exploding" dice. # Campaign only, no standalone scenarios. - Only one player aid and rules is missing some clarifications. See also other well written narrative games: * Sleeping Gods * Unsettled * Tainted Grail

Played 3 times till now with 4 players. It's okay, but too long, with very long downtimes between the player turns. Also the texts and rules are quite difficult to understand and there are a lot of little fiddly rules. Maybe it's just because we are no native speakers but other english games were never a problem for us.

Co-op, beautiful artwork and fierce boss battles. German or English edition (probably English. The German version is quite expensive)
