Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

What an enjoyable gaming experience! I was initially drawn in by the choice of heroes and their miniatures but I stayed for the amazing art and satisfying gameplay. This game can be learned by anyone due to its simple card play, hand management, and positioning. That being said, despite playing over 30 times, I haven't lost any interest! Sure, a lot of the replayability comes from mixing and matching the different heroes from other sets but I am okay with that since I'm drawn to the new heroes and new deck designs anyway. Just under 50% of my plays have been with 2 players, which is becoming my 2nd favourite way to play. So far, playing with 4 players, in teams of 2, has been the most captivating. All that being said, I will never turn down a 3 player free-for-all game despite it being the most chaotic way to duel.

This game rules! Highly asymetrical (think: Dice Throne) but with card-based combat and very nice miniatures. Game plays very quickly, and strategies emerge the more you play. It can seem frustrating sometimes when certain characters seem very OP however I've seen every character beat every character (including expansions) in our games. It is very satisfying to pull off a win against some of the tougher characters. The expansions are also very cool, and the smaller board you get with Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot is perfect for two players and a speedier game. Bruce Lee is also worth hunting down, he's very fun to play as, and always a challenging foe. I play this often with my 10yo daughter and her friends; it's their favorite game. Can't wait for more expansions and hopefully some creative new maps. It would also be cool to get aftermarket sidekick miniatures.
