Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Perfectly serviceable. No interaction, just all of us playing the same game solo. But at least that means the game moves at a good clip, since we can all play simultaneously. The fortresses protect things below from random dice attacks, but aren't worth a whole lot themselves. It feels like if a player spends time building fortresses, they're on course to get an okay score. Another player who ignores fortresses will either get a bad or great score, depending on the luck of the dice. So imagine a game with two players of relatively equal skill level, one player builds fortresses and one doesn't. Who wins is very much dependent on the luck of the dice. But this sort of things happen a lot in MPS games like Take it Easy; I don't know why but it bothers me a bit more here. The banquets/raids add-on doesn't do much at all, I could take or leave it.

What a fast, engaging and very portable game, suitable for travel! There’s something addicting about this game.

Protect the areas on your scoresheet with early fortress building. Eventually, build the cathedral that gives you the multiplier for fortresses. No other approach to the game works as well. Despite the one-note way to play and the absence of an ability to affect other players, I still rate this a seven; it's fun.
