The small island of Kuchinoshima has been hit by a terrible storm, leaving the village with only a single fishing boat. Each hoping to prove themselves the village’s best fisherman, 2-4 players take turns moving the boat marker around the island, collecting any fish tiles they land upon. At the end of the day, the player with the best haul wins, but there’s a twist – with 3 or 4 players, each player’s score is added to the player to their right’s score before determining the winner!

This game caught me by surprise. The game is lightning quick (it can easily end in under 20 minutes with three players), the shared scoring with the next player in turn order leads to some fascinating considerations, the rules are exceedingly simple, turns are quick but you still need to plan a turn or two ahead, and forcing the end game can be satisfying power play. It also doesn't hurt that IDW's production is very good with chunky plastic tiles that make it a joy to handle.

Too simple and can in fact end in less than one minute if people want it to/make the choices so that it does. Not sure thats a good thing..

Quick & easy to learn rules & setup. My main attraction is its aesthetic and calm simplicity. Its a beautiful, quick pallet cleanser. Like a refreshing blueberry sorbet for the mind.
