Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.

Just ok. City tile building game. Too similar to other games. The other games are better in my opinion.
Andy Parsons
A familiar enough concept of a tableau/city builder with limited spaces for the things you want to build and scoring bonuses to be had for positioning the right buildings next to each other. What does feel a little different is the track that's a trade-off between free bricks (a currency) and your production buildings doing their thing on the one hand, or an early pick of the turn's new buildings on the other. The buildings are varied enough to present viable alternative strategies. Great City of Rome plays smoothly and doesn't outstay its welcome. Both artwork and production quality are a little disappointing. The buildings are thin-ish cards and the illustrations are rather bland. The iconography is quickly grasped.

$35 Amazon To rebuild the Eternal City, the Roman Emperor summoned the most talented builders of antiquity. Each of them is trying to draft the best city — but talent is not enough. Only those who know how to please the Emperor, cleverly exert their influence, and invest at the right time will succeed in City of Rome.
