Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Captain Quirk
Perfect example of a game that looks great, with nice components and artwork, but the gameplay is trash. Did the gameplay designers even watch the show? Because if they did, they'd know that the main point of the series is to avoid war and conflict. And what do they make with the series name stamped on it? A beat-the-other-player-up game. This is Dragon Prince, not Dragon Ball Z. All those maps and the possibility of a story somehow following the series and they end up being interchangeable punching locations. Wow. Just wow.

I play gloomhaven. And this seems like a very watered down version of that. Which is great for my kids(11- 13) to learn a game that is a little more complex and requires more strategy than dice rolling.

A rather clever skirmish game with an emphasis on teamwork via combos. No personal attachment to the show, game is just good.
