Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Although one could think that this is just another disaster co-op game with the AI controlled by a deck of events, and it is, the gameplay mixing elements of action points and set collection is so well themed in a Star Trek-like world that makes it a really great game. I'm not a fan of the style used in the art, but I must confess that all together with the nice components looks really good too. The rules are well written, they made me laugh at least one time, and you don't really need to read them again. Finally, I don't know why it's tagged as 2-7 players because you can totally played solo, and it can be as good as an experience. Great game!

Short cooperative game that gives a feel of Space Alert, but a little to simplistic for me to enjoy as much as Space Alert.

The gameplay in TCiD is very good, both with the action economy and the way the problems continue to ramp up. This is a difficult game to win, no matter the player count, and it gives you a genuine feeling of accomplishment when you do. The gameplay is consistently tense and gives you no shortage of memory-moments. My only quibble about this game is that I'm quite sad that a big-name, big-cash-flow company like AEG got a hold of this and somehow managed to actually make the art worse. It's seriously teeth-grittingly bad. If you can get past that, however, the gameplay itself is more than worth it.
