This is a nice asymmetrical two player game, and it plays in a relatively short amount of time. I've played it a handful of times now, and am starting to see the strategies come up more clearly after playing both sides a few times. I do think that there is a possibility for the cards to come out very unluckily for Jack (even though he can move one card before the game begins to anywhere else), but for the most part, gameplay will come down to balancing offensive moves and defensive moves to make progress on your objectives while not making things easier for your opponent. I'm liking it more with each play.

Clever use of theme (Jack and the beanstalk) in what would otherwise be an inventive abstract that probably would not have not caught the deserving attention. It felt a bit like Lost Cities as it is equally tense. It is really assimetric which helps the theme immensely, a huge plus for an abstract:) , you can feel the agility of Jack and the thunderous moves of the giant. I realy enjoyed and even though I'm yet to play with my wife I think it's safe to say she will like it too.

Good game, but not good enough to keep. Perhaps a case of the designer's previous work (Arboretum) outshining this.
