The Big Book of Madness: The Vth Element
60m - 90m
2 - 5 Players
Ages 12+
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Welcheren
In my opinion, The Big Book of Madness does not lack for variety, but this expansion kicks variety through the roof. It is not a must-have expansion, but it is nice, especially the Dark Matter module. However, for me, one detractor is that I am not fond of the phobias, which means there are Monster Pages and Mages that I cannot really play with. And if you only play with Dark Matter, then only one of the four new mages is especially powerful (unless I am missing some clever strategy). Lastly, the wording on many of the cards is TERRIBLE. The editing seems rushed.

The expansion is fun, but the translation is terrible. Language is inconsistent with what was used in the base game making for a lot of confusing wording on cards and in the rules. I'd be rating this an 8 if not for that.
