In Teotihuacan: City of Gods, each player commands a force of worker dice, which grow in strength with every move. On your turn, you move a worker around a modular board, always choosing one of two areas of the location tile you land on: one offering you an action (and a worker upgrade), the other providing you with a powerful bonus (but without an upgrade).

Purchased as part of ding/dent sale at retail store--well worth the purchase! I had heard a bit of buzz at one point, but missed the boat initially. Played the "basic" game to learn it and loved it! To a certain degree, this reminds me of Lancaster in that the areas of the board which you want/need to visit change as the game progresses and are influenced directly by other peoples locations. This leads to lots of "who can get there first" battles and stealthy "I hope nobody notices what I just saw" play. The entire board is one big rondel, which is a neat concept and works well for this design. Look forward to playing again now that my wife and I understand the mechanism better.

8/19 N25-GREAT worker placement game. Dice are used, but not in the conventional way. We enjoy the Aztec/Incan theme although it's pasted on. 11/19 N24-+Late Preclassic Period

The interesting thing about Teotihuacan is that I hate it. Tom Holland's words in his blog post 'Understanding the Euro Games' have never felt more pertinent. The puzzle created by positioning and sequencing your dice around the rondel is a redeeming nugget in an otherwise bland soup of euro game mush. There is nothing particularly wrong with the game, but it could certainly use some soul.
