Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Must-have since I love the base game. The best kind of expansion as it adds 10 more civilizations which is the main variability of the game as each plays differently. I really like the extra starting building project mission as well, going last does not feel that disadvantage anymore. And it also comes with more painted miniatures which is really nice and similar quality as the base game.

See Tapestry (2019) Easy to add "more stuff" expansion that adds to the replayability without bloating anything. This will not change your opinion on the base game either way, but if you play it often it is a must-have. These kinds of expansions are my favorite as I don't have to consult two different manuals when looking up a rule or when I'm trying to remember the game. I would have liked to see a reprint of the revised civilizations included in this set though instead of just a mention in the rulebook.

This is a nice addition to the Tapestry base game. Mostly it's adding more variety to give even more combinations of things to do. It does add one new gameplay element, but most of what's nice about this expansion is improvements to the organization and clarity of the base game. 3 best things about this expansion: - The bag to hold the exploration tiles. Game changer. Much more organized to put away, to have on the playing space, all of it. - The landmark tiles for the advancement tracks. It's nice to have that clear visual reminder on the track itself for whether or not that building has been taken by another player yet or not. - The landmark cards. Each card has a requirement you and only you need to meet to get an extra landmark building. Nice way to help fill in your capital city.
