Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The second game in the Oniverse, and one that is very different than the first. This one is a tower defense game, and has a really cool drafting mechanism that I didn't think was possible with just one player.

Sylvion is a beautifully-balanced solo game with a hefty playtime (thanks to the mobilization phase in the Advanced version) and just enough complexity to make your choices difficult (yet satisfying). Draft your deck, play your cards, resist the relentless (and I do mean relentless) horde! The expansions in the box add a lot of variation to either your drafting, your enemies, or both! You can mix them in as you please and find yourself with the perfect 40-minute lunchbreak. The footprint is big if you play it with the "forest frame" around the cards (6x6), but otherwise you can ignore the frame and set up a simple 5x4 card matrix. Make sure you understand the rule nuances before you decide whether you like it: blaze "C" cards only affect regular elementals (not those that have already been blazed once), a destroyed fountain gets you a free card, and "demobilization" is a good way to thin out your deck toward the end of the game. It looks great, it plays well, it has a lot of variety. One of the best Oniverse games.

Is a good example of a tower defense type game in card format. The flow of the game feels a bit like plants vs. zombies with the fire working against you from right to left. The best part of the game for me is the drafting portion where you are gathering your forces. There aren't too many tough decisions in the game as most often times the choices are pretty apparent, but several times throughout a game you will end up with a tough choice. Game is not as easy as it may appear, although it isn't terribly difficult either. Most games seem to be competitive till the end. The only worthwhile way to play is with all the expansions and the advanced mode. I'm sure players will probably tend to gravitate towards strategies that have worked for them in the past, while they try to branch out some.
