Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

tl;dr: it's a sword measuring competition! We all split a grid of tiles. When we have all split, we all get to choose. The tiles give you parts to build a weird square sword that has gems over it's entire length on all sides. Pretty strange. You repeat the process a few times until you run out of tiles. You score points for having same color gems adjacent on the same side of the sword, and for cards that score for having the most or lest of certain colors. You also get points for having the longest one. It's all very basic and I'm not sure how it works thematically as these are weird swords. But it is rather enjoyable if also a rather forgettable experience. Perfect for younger kids who like swords I suppose. I was left a bit wanting. Initial rating: 6/10 BGG scale: 5/10

Interesting concept of building an actual sword with the game pieces, but there's wasn't much to it other than that and the process was kind boring.

Interesting cut & choose mechanics muxed with drafting and set collection. Constructing 3d swords is fun.
