Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Games that use the Memory mechanic require players to recall previous game events or information in order to reach an objective.
Memory
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

1 play / 6 players LIKE: Flipping tiles and sinking the island is fun. Moving the sea serpent is fun. DISLIKE: Very attack-oriented game, but it's fast and furious. Not much strategy. OVERALL: This is a fun romp that I used to play as a kid. The new edition has nice tiles. It is a bit rough as a game, but it is not meant to be taken seriously.

Awesome game. There's enough strategy to make me feel like I have some level of control but enough randomness that it's very fun. This isn't a brain burning thinkathon, but it's clean and elegant in it's execution.

First play was with 3, and was lots of fun. I can see this one being played very regularly, my group just likes to mess with each other for this one to stay on the shelf much. Hoping that the new expansion will actually work with my old board, because the only thing that would make this one much better would be the ability to play with 5 or 6. 6-12-11 - Again with 3, and again very fun. In fact, the person who started out being eaten left and right ended up winning - we eased up on him and tried to take each other out brutally, and the ones he lost were all of low value, so he snuck out a win. Lots of fun, and definitely will be playing again soon.
