Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Wonderfully produced and well-designed light and fast tactical/strategy euro with a fun theme, beautiful components and a good balance between strategy and luck. Fast and fun to play and works for many different kinds of players.

A modern classic. Brilliant. This one has it all. The random matching of races and powers is brilliant. Scoring after every turn makes this a conquest game that even my wife loves to play because you always get your points.
acrah
I played this one and found it to be alright. Very ponderous though - perhaps it flows better if you know all the races and powers well. It reminded me of Kingdom Builder in it's variety, but KB is way smoother, faster and, for my money, more fun (albeit also a lot less thematic).
