The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.

For me, this game is a solo experience of a simple MtG game with preconstructed decks. I got the hang of the game in about 10 plays and enjoyed it, but later I had no incentive to play it any more. + the card quality is very good + the games are fast + some mechanics are interesting, particularly yellow cards - yellow cards are AN EXPANSION! - quite expensive for what you get - lacks originality in design and mechanics... quite generic. - rules are not very clear. I found myself guessing often. - deck construction (with expansion!) is very limited and often obvious. - the wins feel underwhelming and the losses feel undeserving, but I think it is because of the solo nature of the game.

I used to play A LOT of MtG "back in the day" and this really does have strong MtG vibes, basically letting me play MtG solo (more or less). It's fun to build decks, the game presents a nice puzzle and is not too easy. I'm definitely looking forward to any expansion content they may produce in the future, I reckon I'll be all over it. Bring on more hordes, more alliance cards, more of everything!

Sadly disappointed with this one. You draw very few cards, which means that you have very few game options, and these seem obvious. Poor gameplay compared to much better games like Keyforge and MTG. Haven't tried deck building, yet. Also, quite expensive.
