Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.

Full review: https://playerelimination.com/2024/02/19/where-flowers-die-a-senjutsu-battle-for-japan-review/ Plodding and too static. Instead of power and competence, the game imparts a feeling of feebleness and buffoonery.

Senjutsu: Battle for Japan by @luckyduckgames is a skirmish game where you duel against the other players to be the last one standing! In the game, you’ll choose your fighter and build a deck for them. You’ll then face off with your opponents, playing cards face down before simultaneously revealing them, activating them based on the card’s initiative. The cards will allow you to move, attack, defend, draw cards, gain focus, or move your Kamae, which will activate special bonuses on certain cards Once a fighter maxes out on wounds or stuns, they are out and the last fighter standing wins! Senjutsu thrives on its simplicity, being able to play a game in about 20mins. As such, it does not overstay its welcome. The deckbuilding is also fun as you can strategize as to what moves you prefer to execute. However, this results in half the time spent tweaking your deck and full enjoyment of the game will require multiple plays as you grow accustomed to the various cards in the game. The game can also feel a little samey after awhile especially if you only have the base game since you are simply maneuvering around your opponent(s) to damage them That being said, if you play with players who enjoy mind games and table talk, the game can be pretty exciting since you’re trying to outmaneuver each other. And while it may feel like a guessing game at times, since you don’t know what is in your opponents deck, talking and second guessing one another adds a bit more tension to the game! The game does have great production with beautiful miniatures. Additionally, there are various expansions with even more characters and cards that you can invest in, which gives gamers a ton of options. There’s also a solo and cooperative campaign to switch things up though learning how the AI moves can be a little confusing at the start If you enjoy skirmish/dueling games, and want something quick and fast paced, do check out Senjutsu: Battle for Japan!
